a few months ago i made this mixtape for ross' cross country journey. i'm glad it saw him safely through his travels, but to be honest, i wish i could still listen to the gift that i sent him off with...

so i'm doing my best to recreate the mixtape with corresponding videos. some of them are official videos, while others are homemade videos. some are just the album cover and song.

and i even had to resort to yahoo mp3 streaming for the last track. apparently, fuzzy mountain string band didn't leave much in the way of video archives..

these images are the SEXY part of a collage series im working on called VOID. built in photoshop, all the images derive from scans and i just use simple ps techniques to assemble the pieces.

the backgrounds are jumbled with old Rx prescription paper reading: VOID. the subjects come from a copyright-free clip art book.

LOST & DISCOVERED

about two weeks ago i came across this filthy slide film as i was crossing the street..

     

so i took these two pictures with my droid and decided to take the slide home...

here's a scan of the front and back...

here's what i came up with...

WHY? why do this? 

well, curiosity. plus, there's something magically chaotic about the the aesthetic of damaged film--film thats been subject to the cruel world of weather, pavement, dirt, freezing temperatures and fingerprints. the process is actually the interesting part, not so much the content...even though the content has become interesting through the process of being trashed. 

so, yes, i've adopted this slide film with love, care and good intentions...think what you will.

these photos were taken in april 2008 with a $17 kodak disposable camera purchased at vail. mike took all the pictures, except the one he's in. i took that one. some time later, i decided to develop these strips.


can you believe that was closing weekend? vail had just been hit with 3 feet of snow. trudging through all that powder was tough work, but someone had to do it.
